Art & Literacy Program for Homeless Families
Lee Goodwin and Sojourner Truth Residences for Homeless Families
Bronx, New York, USA

Art in a Box conducted an Art and Literacy Program and provided boxes of art supplies for homeless children and their families at two shelters in the Bronx, New York. With support from Pearson Longman, we provided needed donations of books to the libraries at both shelters. In addition, Art in a Box sponsored Quilt-Making Classes at the shelter where the families and the staff created beautiful story-telling quilts. The program helped the children cope with transition and uncertainty and empowered them through their own self-expression.
