Art in a Box worked in partnership with the International Crane Foundation (ICF)
to develop environmental art projects for students at the Xianghai Middle
School in northeastern China in 2007 and 2008. The school is located near the
Xianghai Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve that is home to endangered species
of cranes. Students created artwork for the Note Card Project and completed a 6 meter long Mural Project that described the life cycle of the migrating cranes through four seasons and
the beauty of the natural environment at Xianghai. The mural was presented at
Xianghai Nature Reserve and will be on permanent display at the Xianghai Nature
Reserve Museum.
