Art and Enrichment Activities for Children in Cambodia
Phnom Penh and Takmao, Cambodia
Ninety children from the slum communities of Phnom Penh enjoyed a day in the
countryside on a recent Art in a Box field trip. We started out early in the
morning, by having breakfast and singing songs on the bus. The children visited
the Phnom Penh zoo, had a picnic lunch and visited an ancient Cambodian temple.
At the end of our day in the country, each child received sketchbooks and
pencils so they could continue to practice their artwork on their own. Every
child received an Art in Society Art Award Certificate, that celebrates the
children for their courage as young art makers and the promotes human rights of
children. It was a happy day!
