Cambodian Paper Doll Art Program
Art for Trafficked Girls and Young Women at Risk
Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Cambodian Paper Doll Art Program is the first art and design training program for trafficked girls and girls at risk in Cambodia. The girls, who live at a safe house, regain their self-esteem while they learn art and design skills. The project, produced in partnership with the Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center (CWCC), draws on Cambodia’s renowned textile traditions and the universal appeal of dolls to promote educational opportunities for trafficked and at risk girls.
Through Peer to Peer Art Mentoring, older girls gain leadership and teaching experience and younger girls gain mentors from within their own culture. Students exhibited and sold their original artwork for the Cambodian Paper Doll Project at the New Gallery in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We provide the student teams with small purchase grants to buy their project supplies at the local market.

to purchase these original creations. Proceeds help trafficked girls and girls at risk in Cambodia to earn income and recover their self esteem.
